GEESI Development and Humanitarian Initiative

Christmas parties for refugee children are a beacon of hope and joy amidst the challenges they face. Organizations like the Geesi Development and Humanitarian Initiative, have been working tirelessly to bring Christmas cheer to these young ones. In 2024, the Christmas for Refugees program made a significant impact, with events held in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, not forgetting Nigeria and especially Adagom 1 settlement Ogoja. This program was aimed to provide a special day for refugee children giving them a sense of belonging, and a place of communion. The events were tailored to meet the basic needs, with activities ranging from dance, drama, poem presentation, shows and gift-giving. We targeted children from ages 1-8 years old in all settlements which is Adagom 1,3 and Ukende and host communities. The program reached over 220 children, in Adagom 1 refugee settlement on the 25th of December 2024 at the CBI hall while in Ukende we recorded over 320 children on the 1st of January 2025 at the Reception. One of the most heartwarming aspects of the program is the opportunity for these children to experience a sense of normalcy and joy, despite their difficult circumstances. As Mr. Cheng Laban, Executive Director, noted, the goal is to show these children that they are not forgotten and that they are loved
