Driving Sustainable Impact: LIVE IN GREEN's Clean Energy Revolution in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement LIVE IN GREEN, a refugee-led organization, is transforming lives in Uganda’s Kyaka II Refugee Settlement through sustainable energy solutions. The organization operates the largest Energy Resource and Waste Recovery Centre in Uganda’s refugee settlements, producing up to five tons of eco-friendly briquettes daily and manufacturing over 6,000 improved eco-stoves annually. The eco-stoves reduce fuel consumption by 60%, minimizing harmful emissions and deforestation while improving refugees’ health. Organic waste is converted into briquettes, providing a sustainable alternative to charcoal and creating livelihoods for over 200 trained refugees. Innovative solutions like solar induction cookers and solar-powered refrigerators, developed in partnership with Koolboks, enhance clean cooking and food preservation. LIVE IN GREEN’s initiatives not only address energy needs but also promote environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and climate resilience, making a lasting impact on thousands of refugees and host community members in Kyaka II.
