Raise Chess Academy

THE 2nd EDITION of the NAKIVALE REFUGEE YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP kicks of the 13th/January 2025 A tournament organized by Raise Chess Academy bridges youths from different communities together for a week long of chess, fun and learning from each other regards of their nationality, language they speak, cultural back grounds and gender. The chess championship is an opportunity for refugees youths to improve their chess skills, decision making and communication skills with in over 6 days. Refugee youths often face numerous barriers as financial challenges, language, boredom which leads to them engaging in harmful activities like thief, miss use of drugs, moving from place to place putting their lives in danger. The tournament becomes a safe space to spend their time while having fun as they learn. Youths who improves in chess and loves the game can take it as a carrier path as chess coaches, chess professional players and masters.
