When others make decisions on our behalf, they deny us the opportunity to identify and address the challenges that truly affect our people. Challenges we live with every day and understand better than anyone else.

There is a saying: "If you do not live in a house, you cannot know where it leaks when it rains." The same is true for refugee communities. If you do not work closely with refugee leaders, you cannot fully understand the realities we face or the solutions that are most urgently needed.

There is nothing for us without us.

Allow us to make our own decisions. Allow us to identify our priorities. Allow us to allocate resources where they are needed most. Work with us, not for us.

What we need is a trust-based partnership, one that recognizes refugee leaders not as beneficiaries, but as equal partners in creating lasting change.
