Across Chad, thousands of young people face daily challenges that limit their ability to access quality education, secure employment, and achieve their full potential. These challenges are particularly severe for refugees, internally displaced persons, and youth from vulnerable communities who often struggle with poverty, limited educational opportunities, and a lack of professional skills. Yet despite these obstacles, many young people possess remarkable talent, resilience, and determination. What they need most is an opportunity to learn, grow, and build a better future.
The Times Center for Vocational Training and Rehabilitation (TCVTR) was founded in 2021 to help bridge this gap between potential and opportunity. Our organization was established with the belief that every young person deserves access to practical education and skills that can improve their lives and contribute positively to their communities. Since our founding, we have worked to create inclusive learning opportunities that empower marginalized youth with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to succeed.
At TCVTR, we understand that traditional education alone is not always enough to prepare young people for today's rapidly changing world. For this reason, our programs focus on a combination of vocational training, digital literacy, language learning, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and professional skills. We provide training in computer applications, digital technologies, communication, marketing, design, and other practical areas that increase employability and promote self-reliance.
In addition to digital and professional skills, we also support creative and hands-on vocational training such as sewing and woodworking. These programs help participants develop income-generating skills while encouraging innovation and creativity. Through mentorship and practical learning experiences, participants gain the confidence to pursue employment opportunities, start small businesses, and become leaders within their communities.
Our work is particularly important in a context where many young people face uncertainty about their future. Refugees and displaced youth often encounter additional barriers, including interrupted education, limited access to resources, and social exclusion. By providing safe and inclusive learning environments, TCVTR helps create opportunities for these young people to rebuild their confidence and pursue meaningful pathways toward economic independence.
However, achieving sustainable change requires collective effort. Governments, civil society organizations, educational institutions, private sector actors, and development partners all have important roles to play in supporting youth empowerment. Collaboration is essential to ensure that young people have access to quality education, relevant skills training, and opportunities for decent work.
Looking ahead, TCVTR envisions becoming a leading center for vocational training, digital innovation, and youth empowerment in Chad and beyond. We aspire to expand our programs, reach more underserved communities, and strengthen partnerships that support inclusive and sustainable development. Our goal is not only to train individuals but also to contribute to stronger, more resilient communities capable of driving positive social and economic change.
The future of Chad depends on the potential of its young people. By investing in skills development, education, and leadership, we can unlock that potential and create lasting opportunities for generations to come. Together, we can build a future where every young person has the chance to learn, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to society.
We invite partners, supporters, volunteers, and community members to join us on this journey. Through collaboration and shared commitment, we can transform lives and create a brighter future for youth across Chad.
