YETA

“This would not have been possible without the partnership with local refugee led organizations #YETA and #CECI and funding from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Oxfam will continue to provide additional group cash grants to more women’s groups in the settlements in West Nile” said by Marie Sophie Pettersson-Oxfam using her Linkedin. In imvepi settlement YETA is promoting women and women’s CBO-Led peacebuilding, GBV prevention, gender transformation and empowerment. In 2023, 5 women led groups (refugee and host mixed) were supported with group cash grants and provided with training on gender-transformative leadership, business skills, and financial literacy and savings skills. The groups managed to establish their own collective enterprises for those business related (tailoring center, produce buying and selling) making profits and leading community engagement efforts to prevent GBV, Teenage pregnancies, child marriages and girl’s school dropout, and how to support children with disabilities. Big congratulations to the 5 women groups; Condition women group, Women Shine Network, women resilience group, Wake up women group and Voice of Voiceless women group. For 2024, we have retained 3 of the non-business related groups supported in 2023 for sustainability and 2 additional new women groups after undergoing a rigorous selection and verification process.
