ACUBF Uganda is a humanitarian and community development organization working in the Nakivale refugee camp in the Isingiro district of Uganda. The organization is committed to saving lives, protecting vulnerable populations, and building the resilience of refugee and host communities affected by conflict, displacement, poverty, and humanitarian crises.Since its inception, ACUBF Uganda has actively implemented community-based interventions aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable groups, including women, children, youth, people with disabilities, and those suffering from malnutrition, living in complex humanitarian contexts.The organization works in several key sectors, including protection, education, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food security, nutrition, environmental protection, livelihoods, and microfinance initiatives. In the protection sector, 72 people were trained in soap making, Omo, and Juk. 431 women and girls who were victims of gender-based violence received psychosocial support, awareness campaigns, and community outreach on the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), early marriage, child protection, and the promotion of positive masculinity. More than 451 students received various training courses on SGBV, early marriage, and maternity hygiene. The organization also conducted training sessions on protection and accountability mechanisms for community leaders, youth groups, and civil society actors.In the education sector, ACUBF Uganda supports vulnerable children and adolescents through awareness programs, and in nutrition and food security, targeting children under five suffering from acute malnutrition. 112 children received fortified porridge, 41 pregnant and breastfeeding women received nutritional support activities, conducted community screenings, and referred vulnerable households facing food insecurity and health problems.Through its microfinance and savings initiatives, more than 600 customers save their money with ACUBF. In the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector, ACUBF Uganda works to improve access to safe drinking water, promote hygiene, and improve sanitation facilities in underserved villages within the Nakivale refugee camp.
