Our staff had the privilege of visiting the women’s group in Basecamp 3 in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement, where we have been supporting economic empowerment through poultry farming. Since our initial support, the group has made remarkable progress: the 25 chickens have now grown to 32, with 20 of them actively laying eggs. The women are not only excited about their growing flock but also the opportunities it brings for their families’ sustenance and economic growth. Their success is a testament to the impact of sustainable support, and with your help, we can continue to empower more communities to thrive.

Through our consortium of Rwamwanja Mushroom growers headed by RRF, our participant mushroom growers in our Rwamwanja Refugee community and the host community are able to access spawns for mushroom growing and sustaining their businesses.

AWAY FOUNDATION recently facilitated a focus group discussion with individuals with special needs, including those living with disabilities and albinism, in the Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement. Through the provision of vital psychosocial support and counseling, we witnessed firsthand how individuals who had lost hope began to regain their strength and optimism for a better future. The impact of this initiative underscores the urgent need for continued support and resources to uplift these vulnerable communities. During the meeting, we gained valuable insights into AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) and AGD (Age, Gender, and Diversity).
