The Coordination Office of CAPRIDIS, issues an urgent alert regarding the deteriorating life safety, protection gaps, and lack of systemic accountability facing thousands of refugees from Burundi and Rwanda. This includes urban refugees in Uvira town, newly arrived individuals at the Kavimvira Reception Centre, and long-term residents across the Lusenda and Mulongwe refugee camps. These populations are currently exposed to high-risk environments with severely diminished humanitarian and legal oversight.Refugees in the Uvira region face compounding threats to their physical security, dignity, and basic survival:
· Urban Invisibility: Refugees living outside of managed camps in Uvira town lack systematic tracking, making them vulnerable to arbitrary arrest, economic exploitation. The Kavimvira Reception Centre experiences severe strains on basic infrastructure, leading to protection risks for women and children.
The CAPRIDIS coordination office in Uvira and the National Commission for Refugees (CNR), in collaboration with our partner at the Kavimvira reception center in Uvira, met with refugees from Burundi and Rwanda who are victims of war and insecurity and are being hosted in the DRC. Their precarious situation prevents them from receiving adequate protection. We had planned to organize World Refugee Day on June 20, 2026, but due to insufficient funds, we were unable to do so. We would have had to distribute donations to them.
At the reception center, these refugees face numerous challenges and significant difficulties, particularly regarding food security, housing, education, healthcare, and livelihoods.
Women, children, young people, girls and boys, as well as the elderly, are particularly vulnerable to these difficulties. They no longer receive international protection and support, and they are not receiving any assistance from these agencies.

REPORT ON THE FIELD TRIP TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT MENSTRUAL HYGIENE.
On Thursday, June 18, 2026, in the Kalungwe group, Katongo village, we, the women of the CAPRIDIS consortium, conducted a field visit to assess the situation facing vulnerable and orphaned girls.
We raised awareness about menstrual hygiene to combat certain diseases caused by the improper use of sanitary pads, also known as "cotes" (a local term for syphilis). We informed them about the commemorative day dedicated to Menstrual Hygiene Day, celebrated every May 28, as well as the International Day of the Rights of the African Child, celebrated every June 16.
We shared experiences and testimonies during our day's discussions with 15 young girls who broke the taboo and spoke to us about their various needs and the problems they have faced recently due to the war they were forced to flee and abandon because of the insecurity created by the M23 rebels.

This is about Lake Tanganyika, located in the territories of Uvira and Fizi, in eastern DRC, bordering Burundi, Tanzania, and Zambia. I want to address the challenges related to Lake Tanganyika. Its frequent floods, which sweep away tables and boats, often cause numerous deaths in the localities I mentioned. The area is called Luhanga, and cars from Bukavu or Uvira travel to Baraka or Misisi for gold mining, etc. The town of Fizi is also part of this area. But the biggest problem in the DRC is the roads, largely due to insecurity. The essence of this video, about Uvira, is that women are entirely preoccupied with their safety and health. This is why they suffer from various illnesses. All these negative factors, all this pollution, stem from the rivers that flow into Lake Tanganyika. However, many people use the lake water for swimming, washing dishes, or drinking. Let's not forget that this water is not meant to be used as a remedy or to improve the lives of everyone.
Uvira is once again threatened by flooding from the Kalamabenge River, which regularly claims lives and plunges many people into poverty. These floods occurred today, May 1, 2026, between 3:00 and 4:00 PM, while many people were at the Kalamabenge market. The neighborhoods of Bien-Malack, Namianda, and Kilibula are particularly affected by the rising waters. The river flows through the Kalundu neighborhood, near the Uvira town hall. Numerous belongings, including houses, goats, and cows, have been swept away. CAPRIDIS-Monde is launching an urgent appeal for aid for the victims of this disaster in Uvira. Among the victims are two young girls and a child. Unfortunately, this is not the first time these floods have ravaged Uvira, in the South Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Though COHERE from the donotations always sent to support humanity at risk yese we manage and act positively on the funds from donors to COHERE then from CHORE to Organizations on grounds.
We are deeply concerned by the humanitarian emergency unfolding in Uvira and the Ruzizi Plain. Women, girls, children, elders, and injured civilians are facing extreme hardship and urgently need food, healthcare, shelter, and protection.
As a girl-led organization, Bright YEACE Foundation stands in solidarity with CAPRIDIS and affected communities. We support the call for immediate humanitarian action through trusted coordination mechanisms such as COHERE to ensure timely and accountable assistance.
Civilians must be protected, and urgent lifesaving support must reach those most at risk. We call on donors and partners to act swiftly to save lives and restore dignity.
These pictures below one with mango 🥭 tree 🌲🌴 is where a transit camp of asylum seekers or Refugees from Burundi always saying below, also in that transit camp is located in Uvira at Kavimvira South-Kivu Province-DRC. Yesterday during 6 PM 14 Buses 🚌🚐 they were brought these Congolese Refugees from Busuma transit camp of Burundi. This agreement is signed by Burundian Government departments of internal affairs for refugees and Congolese Government departments of internal affairs for refugees to facilitate these reparations which is really a big emergency lesson for these victims of war zones caused by Rwandan forces supporting M23, AFC ECT......
Really these refugees fled when Uvira was captured by Rwandan forces supporting M23, AFC many of them, they lost their families in Burundi at Busuma refugee camp?
The Humanitarian challenge for Uvira is at the high speed of the crisis really, remember those returns Congolese Refugees, are always at risk because many of them are from Goma, Bukavu, plain of Ruzizi, others are from hills and mountains 🏔️🌄 of Uvira, Fizi and Mwenga Territories of South-Kivu Province-DRC. There is a big emergency crashing of attacks from M23, AFC, Gumino, Twigwaneho, and Ready Tabara supported by Rwandani forces they fight againest FARDC Congolese forces and Wazalendo forces always time to time day by day really. So they can't go ahead for their homelands because it's where rebel groups of M.23 and AFC supported by Rwandan forces are controlled below? So? So some of these victims from Burundi are taken to their home places in Uvira town hall to those who access it carefully? To those who don't have where to go they remain in the camp at Kavimvira in Uvira, South-Kivu Province-DRC.
Today we as CAPRIDIS Coordination in Uvira, South-Kivu Province of DRC, this is to inform you all humanitarian partners about Uvira, which is now at high level of humanitarian crisis and there we must understand that the women and girls they are always at risk of every bad things on their life situation i mean their bodies always affected through their living situations below? For sure we should learn and get how to support these areas of interventions for women and girls at risk? because of facing a lot of challenges or problems? Here are three pictures that are having a serious meaning on what women and girls are undergoing in Uvira, all the diseases that women and girls are through its becuase dirt water they beth from bathrooms or swimming from lake tanganyika which is receiving all bad things from homes or rivers such as Mulongwe river, Kavimvira river and Kalamabenge river etc...... all these rivers are coming from these hillis or mountains of Uvira and Fizi territories.

The team of CAPRIDIS leaders, we really stand to provide the quality service on serving humanity as victims of war zones in the east of the DRC. Here we stand for reaching where humanitarian aid could't really reach becuase of what is always happening really in Uvira, Fizi and Mwenga Territories of South-Kivu Province of DRC. Why war zones is still ongoing there is becuase Uvira plaine of Ruzizi, Remera, Rurambo, Kageregere, Bijombo, Muramvia, point-zero, Minembwe, ect..... the war zones are ongoing between FARDC and Wazalendo fighting againest M.23, AFC, RDF, Twigwaneho, Readdy TABARA, Gumino are both together for fighting Congolese Government of DRC. Remember refugees, immigrants, internally displaced persons and disaster victims are really at risk of no achievement for their lives becuase many of them are really in high risk of no emergency support to them to sustain themselves really.
The CAPRIDIS Team there is our task is to protect, refugees, immigrans, internally displaced persons and disaster victims, remember that all of them are human being, now days Uvira is at risk of hunger, humanitarian crisis, becuase all internatiaonal NGOs are now focussing on these refugees from Burunsdi, when there are big challenges that is happening for these refugees, and internally displaced persons from Goma, Bukabu, Plaine of Ruzizi, Mountains of Uvira, Fizi and Mwenga Territories and Uvira town hall we identified them in March 2025, the total of them is above 14000 -15000 interanlly displaced persons , when Goma and Bukabu cities was catptured by M23,AFC and RDF.The challenges are here below:-
