Community in Action-Kenya (CIA-K) is a refugee-led organization based in Dadaab, Kenya, committed to promoting community empowerment, protection, education, peacebuilding, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion among refugee and host communities. The organization was established to address the everyday challenges faced by vulnerable populations through community-driven solutions that promote dignity, resilience, and self-reliance.Our mission is to empower communities through inclusive programs that strengthen livelihoods, improve access to education, promote peaceful coexistence, and protect the rights and wellbeing of vulnerable people, especially women, youth, and children. We believe that affected communities should play a leading role in identifying challenges and creating sustainable solutions.Community in Action works closely with refugees, local leaders, youth groups, women-led initiatives, and humanitarian stakeholders to implement impactful grassroots activities. Our key areas of focus include education support, environmental conservation, WASH awareness, protection advocacy, youth empowerment, and capacity building for community members.One of our notable achievements includes implementing an English Learning Program that successfully graduated its first cohort of learners, helping young refugees improve communication skills and increase access to educational and livelihood opportunities. We have also participated in community awareness initiatives focused on peacebuilding, environmental protection, and social cohesion within refugee and host communities.The organization is led by passionate community volunteers and youth leaders who understand the realities and needs of displaced populations. Our team values accountability, inclusion, teamwork, transparency, and community participation in all activities. We aim to strengthen local leadership and encourage meaningful participation of refugees in decision-making and development processes.Community in Action seeks partnerships with humanitarian organizations, donors, and development actors to expand its impact and deliver sustainable community-based programs.
