About Digital Innovators League Africa

Digital Innovators League Africa (DILA) is a youth-led organisation that empowers young people, especially refugees and host communities, through digital literacy, innovation, and skills development. Based in the West Nile region of Uganda, DILA equips youth with practical digital skills such as graphic design, digital marketing, content creation, and basic computer literacy to improve their livelihoods and participation in the digital economy. The organisation promotes digital inclusion by supporting youth who have limited access to technology, particularly young women and out-of-school adolescents. Through training sessions, mentorship, and community engagement, DILA creates opportunities for young people to learn, collaborate, and use digital tools to address social and economic challenges in their communities. DILA also works to amplify the voices of refugees and marginalized youth through storytelling, community media, and online content creation. In addition, the organisation promotes environmental conservation by encouraging youth participation in activities that raise awareness about protecting the environment, responsible use of natural resources, and community-led environmental initiatives. Through partnerships with local and international organisations, DILA aims to expand access to technology, promote innovation, environmental responsibility, and create sustainable opportunities for youth in Uganda and across Africa

Beneficiary Orientation Successfully Conducted!

We have successfully oriented the beneficiaries of the Skills Acceleration for Youth Resilience Project, particularly those participating in the vegetable growing component.

During the orientation, beneficiaries were introduced to the project objectives, how the project will be implemented, what support they should expect from the project team, and their roles and responsibilities as participants.

The beneficiaries expressed great happiness and excitement about being among the first beneficiaries of the project. They also extended their sincere appreciation to COHERE and IKEA for supporting this important initiative, which aims to strengthen livelihoods and build resilience among young people in the community.

With the support of local community leaders, we successfully identified beneficiaries for the vegetable growing component of the Skills Acceleration for Youth Resilience Project and conducted a baseline survey.

The survey helped us understand participants' knowledge of vegetable growing, their experience in earning income from the activity, the challenges they face, how they cope with those challenges, and the methods they use to market and sell their produce.

For those already engaged in vegetable farming, the survey provided valuable insights into their current practices and opportunities for improvement.

The information gathered will guide project implementation and help ensure that our interventions are tailored to the real needs of the beneficiaries.

We thank the community leaders and participants for their cooperation and commitment to building more resilient and sustainable livelihoods.

Today, DILA officially launched the Skills Acceleration for Youth Resilience Project, funded by COHERE under the IKEA Project.

The inception meeting was attended by OPM, partner organizations, and local community leaders.

The project will support 75 beneficiaries across three villages, with 25 participants from each village.

Stakeholders welcomed the initiative and encouraged continued efforts to strengthen livelihoods and improve the economic well-being of the community.

We also look forward to working closely with partners during implementation.

Together, we are creating opportunities and building resilience for youth in our community.

We are grateful to share that the Digital Innovators League Africa (DILA) has received funding support from COHERE for our livelihood project, “Skills Acceleration for Youth Resilience(SAY-R).”

For many young people in refugee and underserved communities, life is filled with challenges, unemployment, and uncertainty. But we believe that when youth are given practical skills and support, they can rebuild hope and create a better future.

Through this project, we shall train youth in:

? Regenerative Agriculture

? Liquid Soap Making

? Financial Literacy

This support means more than funding to us. It is hope for young people who are struggling to find opportunities and a reminder that communities can rise when youth are empowered.

As a community-led organization, we remain committed to helping young people overcome hardships and become self-reliant.

We sincerely thank COHERE for believing in our vision and supporting the future of youth in our communities.

Monica Nasiya, a 23-year-old young refugee woman, struggled with poverty, low self-esteem, and life challenges after dropping out of school and going through a failed marriage. After her divorce, she felt hopeless and believed life had become meaningless.

Her life began to change when she joined the life skills training sessions conducted by Digital Innovators League Africa. Through the training, Monica gained confidence, learned to interact freely with others, and became an active participant during sessions.

She also learned the importance of self-reliance and hard work to support herself and her family.

Monica appreciates Digital Innovators League Africa for helping her rebuild hope and confidence, and she encourages other girls facing challenges to join similar programs
