Listening and Assistance Center, Lac is a refugee led organization established in Nakivale Refugee settlement, in Uganda by refugees in 2020. Vision: Holistic rehabilitation and socio-economic reintegration of refugee’s survivors of torture and sexual violence as well as people with disabilities.Mission :The statement mission is to welcome, listen, provide guidance, medical care, and mental health, legal aid and judicial assistance to refugees and asylum seekers both survivors of torture and sexual violence as well as marginalized peopleObjectives are to :Facilitate primary health care for vulnerable people (widows, girl mothers, elderly and adolescents); Create medical structures that can accommodate and facilitate access to care for the vulnerable. Establish social workers to guide and provide explanations to asylum seekers in order to prevent them from becoming victims of fraud and ransom from former refugees who present themselves to them as commissioners. Create a legal clinic to provide legal and judicial assistance to survivors of torture, sexual and gender-based violence in order to combat impunity and the increase in cases of sexual violence among refugees in the camps;Sensitize refugees and host communities on the non-stigmatization of people living with disabilities and chronic illnesses such as HIV, diabetes, deafness, and paralysis Conduct advocacy to decision makers; Provide water, hygiene and sanitation facilities to vulnerable refugees and host communitiesAreas of interventionHealth, Sexual and Reproductive Health; Human Right.
