Founded in 2023, Opengates operates as a freelancing and learning platform that connects skilled refugee talent with global businesses, enabling remote work, education, and financial independence. The idea for Opengates was born out of lived experience. Our founders—refugees themselves— recognized firsthand the untapped potential of young people in displacement. Surrounded by youth with talent but no access to opportunity, they envisioned a platform that would not only connect this talent to income-generating work but also equip users with the skills and tools to thrive online. Opengates was created as a solution to a problem they faced personally—and continue to solve collectively. We recognize a global gap: while millions of refugees face limited access to employment, businesses around the world struggle to find affordable, reliable talent.
