About PSYCHOLOGICAL AND REFLEXOLOGY RECEPTION CENTER

PRRC is a nongovernmental organization that provides professional counseling, psychotherapy and basic training services to people and groups of all ages, color, creed, belief systems, tribe or otherwise in Malawi and beyond. Psychological and Reflexology Care at PRRC are provided at our Psychological Centre located within the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Kawale1 zone. This organization is born out of direct, long-term observation of: • the deep suffering of refugees and other vulnerable individuals living with mental disorders, trauma, and physical disabilities, • the lack of accessible and appropriate psychosocial support structures in the area, • the marginalization and exclusion of elderly persons, children, youth, women, and persons with disabilities from mental health services and community life, • and the worsening of social and psychological conditions due to overcrowding, insecurity, violence, and natural disasters in Dzaleka Camp, which currently hosts over 60,000 people, far beyond its intended capacity of 12,000. We have recorded a dramatic rise in emotional distress, psychosomatic pain, chronic anxiety, posttraumatic stress, substance abuse, and even suicide, in a region where access to licensed psychologists, trained counselors, and natural healing alternatives is nearly nonexistent.
