About Refugee Coalition for Climate Action

Refugee Coalition for Climate Action (RCCA) is a community-based, refugee-led organization that empowers refugee youth, women, and children to champion climate and environmental action through climate education, tree plantings, and clean-up campaigns. Our Focus areas: 1. Refugees, asylum seekers, and host communities 2. Youth leadership and gender equity 3. Attention to vulnerable groups Our 2023 Key Best practices 1. Amplified the voices of displaced youth, leading to recognition from networks like the Southern Africa Youth Network and participation in the Children and Youth Pavilion at COP28. 2. Prioritized female leadership (60% female BOARD members,) acknowledging the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and girls. 3. Achieved significant progress through collaboration with government entities, humanitarian organizations, local NGOs, and communities. 2024 Priorities 1. Expand climate literacy through educational workshops. 2. Expansion of our nursery seedling and establishment of school orchards to maximize food and nutrition security. 3. Maintain a clean environment with regular clean-up events. 4.
