Refugee Youth for Rural Innovations and Integral Development Initiative (RYRUID UGANDA) is a refugee youth-led, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization operating in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Western Uganda. Founded in 2024 by visionary young refugees with lived experience of displacement, poverty, and social exclusion, RYRUID UGANDA was established to transform adversity into opportunity through youth-led solutions that restore dignity, foster innovation, and strengthen community resilience. The organization exists to empower refugee youth, women and children through Quality and inclusive education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship skills development, social innovation, Enterprise Development and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward self-reliance. We firmly believe that refugees are not passive recipients of aid, but active agents of change capable of shaping their own futures through creativity, leadership, and resilience.Who We Serve and What We DoRYRUID UGANDA works with refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), marginalized groups, and rural communities, with a particular focus on youth, women, children, and persons with disabilities. Our programs address structural barriers to opportunity while creating practical pathways to economic independence and social inclusion.Our work is implemented across seven core thematic areas: education; livelihoods and skills development; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); environment and climate action; health and nutrition; social enterprise development; and community engagement. We emphasize inclusive and quality education, vocational and entrepreneurship skills, sustainable livelihoods, youth and women leadership, climate resilience, environmental sustainability, and community-driven development. Through innovation and social enterprise, we promote economic empowerment while strengthening social cohesion between refugee and host communities.Our ApproachWe adopt an integrated, people-centered approach that combines education, innovation, social inclusion, and rural development.
