On Thursday, April 16, as Madi Okollo District-based trainers, WHOCOT Uganda in partnership with Uganda Women's Network (UWONET) featured on 107.5 FM Voice of Madi to discuss the "Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project"—a Government of Uganda initiative funded by the The World Bank Group Treasury (IBRD•IDA•IFC), implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development UGANDA in partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU).
Key Questions/Talking points from the Show:
1. How is the GROW project supporting female entrepreneurs to grow and transition their enterprises in Uganda?
2. How do society and culture shape female entrepreneurs’ agency and financial decision-making?
3. What implications do social norms have on female-owned and female-led enterprises?
4. How can social norms, attitudes, and practices best be reformed to improve female entrepreneurs’ agency and financial decision-making?
On April 16-17, 2026, we were thrilled to partner with PALM Corps, who graciously accepted to work hand-in-hand with WHOCOT Uganda—a refugee- and women-led organization—thereby strengthening our capacity to independently deliver impactful trainings sustainably like this one, a 2-days training on Gender Action Learning System (GALS) methodology, mindset change, and financial literacy for 35 couples.
Deep appreciation to the Women Center Management Committees for their unwavering support, and to Danish Refugee Council / Dansk Flygtningehjælp (DRC) and Kabarole Research and Resource Centre- Uganda (KRC-Uganda) for joining the training and linking enriching & expertly sessions on child protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention.
In today's refugee context—with World Food Programme rations slashed or cut entirely—these trainings build agency for self-reliant households through equitable decision-making, financial independence, and safer homes.
