On April 16-17, 2026, we were thrilled to partner with PALM Corps, who graciously accepted to work hand-in-hand with WHOCOT Uganda—a refugee- and women-led organization—thereby strengthening our capacity to independently deliver impactful trainings sustainably like this one, a 2-days training on Gender Action Learning System (GALS) methodology, mindset change, and financial literacy for 35 couples.

Deep appreciation to the Women Center Management Committees for their unwavering support, and to Danish Refugee Council / Dansk Flygtningehjælp (DRC) and Kabarole Research and Resource Centre- Uganda (KRC-Uganda) for joining the training and linking enriching & expertly sessions on child protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention.

In today's refugee context—with World Food Programme rations slashed or cut entirely—these trainings build agency for self-reliant households through equitable decision-making, financial independence, and safer homes.

We are proud that WHOCOT Uganda, a women- and refugee-led organization operating in refugee response, participated in a 3‑day training on Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) and Gender & Age Markers (GAM) from 13th–15th May 2026 for humanitarian actors in Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement, Madi Okollo District.
Organized by UN Women, the training brought together frontline responders, local partners, and community leaders to strengthen gender-responsive programming and ensure protection and inclusion across all ages.

Special thanks to facilitators Andrea Scheibach, Jackline Ewudopia, Draleru Joseline, Sam Jimmy, etc. for their expert guidance, and to UN Women and all partners for making this capacity-building possible. Together, we are advancing safer, more inclusive services for refugees and host communities.

WHOCOT Uganda remains committed to centering gender and age considerations at every stage of humanitarian response.
