Youth Action for Change in Africa
Youth Action for Change in Africa (YACA) is a youth-led organization based in Kyegegwa District, Uganda, dedicated to empowering young people from refugee and host communities. Our mission is to develop youth leadership, foster social cohesion, and promote creative expression to build a just and equitable future.
YACA’s work focuses on five key areas:
Education: We support school attendance and provide scholarships, vocational training, and creative workshops to help youth build skills and access quality education.
Livelihood: Through entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, and sustainable agriculture projects, we empower youth and families to achieve economic independence.
Health: We address mental health needs, promote maternal and child health, and facilitate access to essential healthcare services in collaboration with local providers.
Advocacy: We train youth and women to become community leaders and advocates for inclusive policies protecting refugees and marginalized groups.
Protection: Our programs combat gender-based violence, offer support to survivors, and establish safe spaces and community networks to protect vulnerable populations.
YACA operates with strong governance, including an Executive Committee, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective use of funds. Financial reports are regularly audited, and we maintain clear conflict resolution procedures.
We are committed to creating lasting impact by uniting refugees and host communities around shared goals of empowerment and resilience.
