Hope Impact Initiative implemented a child-centered protection and early learning project across IDP camps in Logo, Gbajimba, and Daudu in Benue State, reaching over 150 vulnerable children aged 0–8 years. The project established Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) that provided safe, inclusive environments where children accessed structured early learning, play-based psychosocial support, and foundational literacy and numeracy activities. Trained caregivers and volunteer facilitators ensured that child protection principles were embedded in all engagements, safeguarding children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation while promoting their holistic development. To reinforce child protection systems, the initiative equipped parents, caregivers, and community leaders with knowledge on child rights, positive parenting, and safeguarding practices. Functional referral pathways were strengthened in collaboration with local actors to address cases of abuse, violence, or neglect. In addition, Early Childhood Development (ECD) kits, nutrition support materials, and hygiene supplies were distributed to improve children’s well-being. The project also prioritized inclusion by supporting children with disabilities and those affected by trauma through tailored psychosocial care and engagement. As a result, more than 150 children experienced improved access to safe learning and protection services across the three IDP camps. The intervention enhanced children’s emotional well-being, social interaction, and readiness for formal education, while caregivers demonstrated stronger protective behaviors and responsiveness. By integrating child protection with early childhood development, Hope Impact Initiative delivered a meaningful and sustainable impact, strengthening the resilience and future prospects of children in these displaced communities.
