North West House of Refuge launched the “Roots & Rise Entrepreneur Lab,” a hands-on incubation project supporting refugee and migrant women with business training and mentorship in Rustenburg. Over six months, 80 participants received coaching on branding, marketing, budgeting, and digital selling. They developed sustainable micro-businesses—from handmade crafts to culinary enterprises—while accessing seed capital and showcasing their products at local markets. Peer learning circles encouraged collaboration and cultural exchange, fostering both business growth and community integration. By the program’s end, 60% of participants had registered formal businesses, with several forming cooperatives to increase impact and expand product reach.
