Activities Conducted:
1. EFA
Daily Classes:
Conducted 2-hour classes four days a week for both levels focusing on grammar, vocabulary, conversation practice, and
writing skills.
Workshops: Monthly workshops on specific topics such as job interview
preparation, resume writing, and public speaking.
Language Exchange Program: Paired
participants with native English speakers for language exchange sessions.
Assessments: Pre-assessment and post-assessment tests to measure progress.
2. ECD
Daily Classes: Conducted 4-hour sessions five
days a week with a focus on literacy, numeracy, arts, and sciences.
Play-Based Learning:
Incorporated play-based learning activities to enhance social and emotional
development.
Health and Nutrition: Provided
nutritious meals.
Project highlights
1. EFA targeted 80 adults
Total Enrolled: 96 students with 46 youths: 66 females and 30 males ,
5 host and 91 refugees from different nationalities.
Graduated: 21 students, 13 females and 8 males, all refugees.
Improved Language Skills: 90% of participants showed significant improvement in their English language skills, as evidenced by post-assessment test scores.
Increased Confidence: 85% of
participants reported increased confidence in using English in their daily
lives.
Employment Readiness: 5 participants secured jobs requiring English proficiency, and 10 participants reported joining universities due to improved language skills.
2. ECD targeted 100 pupils
Total Enrolled: 101 pupils: 81 refugees and 20 hosts, 59 females and 42 males
Graduated: 23 pupils, 9 females and 14 males
Cognitive Development: 95% of
children showed improvement in basic literacy and numeracy skills. Fifteen (15) pupils reported joining
primary school and they are doing very well.
Social Skills: 90% of children demonstrated
enhanced social and emotional skills, including cooperation, sharing, and
empathy.
Physical Health: 100% of
children showed satisfactory physical development and health, with regular
participation in physical activities.
Lessons learned
Flexible Scheduling: Offer
classes at various times to accommodate participants' schedules.
Enhanced Communication: Develop
better communication strategies to increase parental engagement.
Resource Acquisition: Seek additional funding and partnerships to improve resource availability.
Attendance: Maintaining consistent attendance was a challenge for some participants due to work and family commitments.
conclusions
The English for Adultsproject was successful in achieving its
objectives and positively impacting participants' lives. Continued support and
expansion of the program are recommended to meet the growing demand for English
language education in the refugee community.
The Early
Childhood Education project successfully met its objectives, significantly
contributing to the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of
participating children. Continued efforts and improvements are essential to
maintain and expand the program's impact.
