Recognizing the need for practical skills and economic empowerment, P4T established the VST Centre in December 2024 after a year-long construction effort. The centre serves as a lifeline for Primary 7 and Senior 4 graduates, as well as vulnerable youth with limited or no formal education, providing them with alternative career paths.
At the heart of the centre is the P4T VST Program, designed to enhance self-reliance through hands-on skills training, practical apprenticeships, business startup support, and mentorship. Participants receive training in tailoring, carpentry, hairdressing, soap making, and videography, equipping them with the tools and confidence to build sustainable livelihoods.
1. Graduate 200 youth annually with practical vocational skills.
2. Facilitate the establishment of 40 businesses by graduates each year.
3. Support and mentor 10 Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) groups annually.
1. Vocational Skills Training – Hands-on instruction in marketable trades.
2. Apprenticeship Placements – Partnerships with local artisan shops for real-world experience.
3. Business & Entrepreneurship Training – Equipping graduates with financial literacy and business management skills.
4. Startup Kit Support – Providing essential tools to graduates forming businesses.
5. VSLA Formation & Mentorship – Supporting graduates in forming and managing savings and loan groups.

Since December 4, 2024, the P4T Vocational Skills Training (VST) Centre has made significant strides in empowering youth through skills development. Key milestones include:
1. Enrolled and trained 104 youth in various vocational skills, equipping them with practical knowledge for self-reliance.
2. Secured official registration and an examination centre number from the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), ensuring that graduates receive government-recognized certification.
3. Registered 94 trainees for DIT examinations scheduled for March 2025, paving the way for their formal accreditation and career advancement.
4. Generated UGX 5,000,000 through the sale of training products and external orders, reinforcing the centre’s potential for sustainability and real-world application of acquired skills.
1. Bridging the skills gap is a catalyst for hope, resilience, and community transformation. Empowering individuals with practical skills equips them to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.
2. Hands-on training enhances learning and motivation. Practical, skill-based instruction is the most effective way to engage adult learners and ensure they gain real-world expertise.
3. Supporting vulnerable individuals requires a holistic approach. Addressing multiple challenges—beyond just skills training—ensures long-term empowerment and success.
1. Engaging community-based instructors enhances program success. Trainers who understand the local context and share the vision for change create a deeper impact.
2. Teaching in a familiar language strengthens comprehension. Delivering lessons in a language trainees are comfortable with improves knowledge retention and skill mastery.
3. Adapting training schedules to fit adult learners’ realities. Shortened, flexible programs accommodate learners with family and livelihood responsibilities, increasing participation and completion rates.
4. Providing additional support services boosts retention. Offering childcare, free meals, and other essential services helps trainees stay engaged and committed to completing their training.
