Lego build a world of play report

The management of Christ’s victory community based organization wish to take this opportunity to thank Cohere for the support of 696,500 ksh which was donated in two instalment on 27th February 2023 and on13th March 2023. The amount enabled the management of CVC to buy materials for the renovation of the school, fix the four rooms of toilets and electricity to the school. Christ’s Victory Centre is a primary school with grade 1to 8. There’s also a pre –primary unit and junior primary 7. The total number of pupils is about 300. There are currently 13 teachers. The school is located in Kiambu county  Githurai 45, kiuu word sub location  the road leading to the school from main road Githurai 45 town  -Mwihoko road.

PRE –CONSTRUCTION INFRUSTRUCTURE

By January 10, 2010, the school had 9 class rooms which have been partitioning by refugee living in Githurai area. Two of the class rooms was for pre-primary unit. The other 6 were for primary classes and one for junior primary. The office and store we rented in neighborhood building which we were paying rent every month.

As it was, there were whole on the separation of the classroom and iron sheets roof that obviously allowed water to leak through during raining season. The walls had apparent cracks and were not sound prove. They was not window only space between the wall and roofing that was like windows. The floor was either dusty or with huge potholes.  There’s not enough desk for the pupils.

There was, therefore, a need to renovate all the school to avoid interference of studies during rainy season and sunny season because both seasons were disturbing with either water or hot in school.

We managed to respond to the present needs that were at the project. The following are the details and dates for the renovation.

  • There was need to 12 classrooms block

  • Supplies of the Materials

  • To demolish the all building

  • To start having digging whole

  • Pestering the metal steels in

  • Make a foundation of two bricks

  • Making construction of the wall up to five bricks and frame of the structure

  • Making the floor cover and frame of the steel of the roof

  • Nailing the iron sheets on the metal steel frame

  • Completion of the iron sheet and roofing

  • Fixing of toilets and cleaning the school

Complexion of the all building and first day in school 30th March 2023

The challenges were as follows:

  • Estimated time

  • Electricity

  • Commitment of volunteer parents/Guardians

According to what we were expecting the renovation could be done in five days but since the area had cut of the electricity one day the work which could be done on that day was not done and also Some volunteer parents could not report at the needed time that made the work to delay and we had extra of two days. We had meeting with those volunteers’ parents about their behavior during renovation there after the meeting they responded positively towards the renovation of the school .we highlighted the issue of reporting time and seriousness of the volunteer workers.
