*TRAINING AND EMPOWERMENT OF FEMALE REFUGEES ON CATERING SKILLS AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN ORON LGA AKWA IBOM NIGERIA FUNDED BY COHERE 2023

*

We had a target population of 30 participants but we ended up with 75 participants.

Our main objective was to improve on Refugee women livelihood through skill training and Empowerment and also to sensitize them on issues related to gender Based Violence and how to prevent or report cases.

This project was successfully implemented over a period of six months with visible impacts.

Most participants were able to start up businesses with the start up kits provided by EHHOP

We experienced some challenges which ranged from transportation, increased in number of our target population, increase in price of items.

We plan to mitigate the prices of high transportation by sourcing local suppliers, remote work arrangements and making purchase ahead of time

In conclusion, the was project successful

Endam Home of Hope recently had a project on the 8th of March 2024 which was the international women Day.

We sensitized women using the team of the 2024 IWD INSPIRE INCLUSION and rounded up with food support items for 60 refugees women and girls and 10 males .

This project was aimed at sensitizing women to be active and keep their dreams alive.

We had participants from host community and a media house which came to cover the event.

This project was sponsored by the founder and CEO of Endam Home of Hope.

We also encouraged women who are into agriculture for livelihood by buying the project from their farms and giving to the participants. We also supported them with cash and seeds for planting.

Most Refugee Women and Girls in urban settings are into negative coping mechanism and some of them when empowered with start up kits sell them.

While refugees  in the remote areas are mostly involved into agriculture as a source of living.

Most of them make use of the training and Empowerment kits and are doing better as they live  a with dignity and integrate safer and faster into society
