Liftup Community Initiative
Liftup Community Initiative (LCI) is a refugee- led community-based organization founded in 2023 to promote socio-economic development and improve the lives of marginalized communities in the refugees and local communities of Kiryandongo District-Uganda. LCI has five thematic areas of intervention and these include; Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment, Agricultural, Environmental, Education, Health and Peace Building.
Since its establishment, LCI is actively engaging in supporting refugees and displaced persons in promoting long term initiatives. We work closely with local partners and communities to identify their needs and priorities, and develop programs that are sustainable and impactful.
Our mission: “To address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and social exclusion through our various programs and initiatives.”
Our goal is: To promote sustainable socio-economic development in a marginalized community, including refugees and local communities. With the following objectives:
I. To empower a marginalized community by promoting community cohesion and social capital through entrepreneurship for sustainable economic growth.
II. To create awareness about importance of education and health related programs.
III. To increase farm productivity and environmentally-friendly agricultural practices for food security and addressing climate change.
IV. To help forced migrants and local community co-exist peacefully, grow their desire for peace skills and have an opportunity to practice and become agents of change.
V. To work with government officials, local leaders and other stakeholders to promote participation and collaboration in community initiatives.
VI. To promote activities that equips and develops the talents of youth as a means of boosting their self-confidence.
VII. To monitor and evaluate the impact of development programs & ensure that they are effective, efficient and sustainable.
