About RWAMWANJA REFUGEE LED ORGANIZATION NETWORK -RRLON

The Rwamwanja Refugee-Led Organizations Network (RRLON) is an independent, nonpartisan, and nonprofit organization founded in 2020 by eight leaders of refugee-led organizations (RLOs) in the Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement. The network was established to unite these organizations, combining their strengths and resources to address the challenges faced by refugees more effectively. RRLON focuses on capacity building, resource sharing, and working collaboratively to develop sustainable solutions for refugees. Since its inception, the network has grown from 8 to over 32 refugee-led organizations by 2024. In the past three years, RRLON has made significant strides in improving the lives of refugees in the settlement. RRLON’s Impact and Areas of Intervention Since 2020, RRLON has expanded to include more than 32 refugee-led organizations that provide essential services and empower refugees through various programs. The network’s areas of intervention include: • Advocacy for Local Initiatives • Livelihood Programs • Energy & Environment Conservation • Health • WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) • Education • Protection RRLON’s initiatives have reached over 20,468 individuals in Rwamwanja, teaching 2,346 refugees how to adapt to new environments and helping 1,342 refugees develop self-sustaining livelihoods. Additionally, over 678 refugee families, including 16,780 youth and women, have gained skills to find solutions for their lives without depending on external aid. Mission, Vision, and Objectives • Mission: To advance refugee-led organizations and communities that are rooted in a sense of belonging, changemaking, co-creation, and a commitment to the common good. • Vision: To build a collaborative, value-driven network of refugee-led organizations capable of responding to urgent social, economic, and environmental needs. • Objectives: 1. Cultivate a learning network that enriches problem-solving strategies, identifies opportunities, and builds effective solutions for the betterment of refugee communities. 2. Foster a comprehensive network of local and regional refugee-led organizations that work across sectors to achieve transformative results. 3. Provide access to shared resources, expertise, and peer-to-peer connections to strengthen refugee-led organizations. Through RRLON, refugee-led organizations have been able to create a sustainable, community-driven network that helps refugees overcome challenges and build stronger, more resilient communities.
