We love and cherish our country of origin.
Despite being in asylum, it in any way does not stop refugees from celebrating the independence of their home country! We love and cherish our country of origin. It only became harsh to us because of poor governance and leaderβs self-interest! We love you, motherland, we thank you hosting country for the hospitality and mentorship"

A good number of stakeholders turned up!
Today, we were previllaged to have UNHCR, OPM, Refugee Welfare Council at different levels, partner staff during the onboarding of COHERE/IKEA funded project participants. This shows the relevance of Refugee led solutions to the stakeholders giving us more strength! We will be counting on them in technical support and oversight!

Launch and onboarding of Upskilling Project
Today we are launching and onboarding 30 caregivers of CWDs for Upskilling in tailoring with focus on bag making and crochets. A participants sharing his reflection on the program.

Quarterly Multi-stakeholder Forum for development of CWDs.
Today we participated in a quarterly dialogue forum that brings together caregivers of CWDs, persons with disabilities, local leaders, teachers, health workers and partners to share lived experiences, what is working, what's not working and what needs to be done!
Key lessons learnt from the dialogue.
Rehabilitation support should be complimented with livelihood support for self reliance.
Children with disabilities continue to experience stigma and bullying in schools especially along the road to and from school. Some caregivers now use positive copying mechanisms e.g by assigning the siblings to protect the CWD along the way.
Some of the adolescent girls with disabilities miss classes due to lack of sanitary pads.
School administrators have now adopted affirmative leadership post-Special Needs Prefect only to be held by a person with disability who can identify abuses and advocate for the welfare of learners with disabilities.
Tailoring focusing on textile bags is making more profits than the ordinary dress fashions.
Just after undergoing 3 months basic training on tailoring with specialization in textile bag making, the participants have started producing and selling their products at Food distribution points during distributions. This idea is now generating reliable incomes for caregivers of children with disabilities with less market competition.

Inclusive community based play sessions reduce stigma, rehabilitates and promotes psychological well-being of Children with disabilities!
Affirmative action to Empower women in leadership and decision making.
Yesterday and today, we were able to evaluate and select proposals and dessiminate results for Women Cash Grant Transfer for 2026 among 4 applicants. This is an initiative that targets registered women led groups and organisations with funding from Oxfam.
Capitalising on strengthening referrals for Children with disabilities!
Today, we were able to mobilize and refer over 30 CWDs to education partner Palm Corps for primary Education scholarships. This way we think they will be able to get more support apart from what our projects offer.
This week we were able to have courtesy visits and induction to key stakeholders in particular OPM, RWC leadership on Upskilling project funded by IKEA/COHERE as the project key start process. Project workplan and activity budgets were shared and filed with the stakeholders for reference, transparency and Accountability.
Just from May Education sector working Group Meeting
Key issues were;
-Education partner to be assessing PSNs for education sponsorship from partner referral.
-IGAs such as grinding Mill initiated by some ECDs has sustained their activities.
-There's limited indoor and outdoor playing materials across 21 ECDs.
-lack of training for newly recruited ECD caregivers affecting learning in ECDs.
-Fewer number of caregivers compared to high enrollment in ECDs affects ECD outcomes.
-ECDs lack tablets for data management and sharing. There's high need for sanitizers and hand washing facilities for Ebola prevention as next school term opens next week 25th May 2026.
2nd community Structure sustainability planning meeting.
Today, we had a wonderful sustainability planning meeting as part of Danida SPII project exit strategy. Three (3) key sustainability activities agreed upon among the Women led fora, Male Champions, Cultural and Religious Alliance and Climate Champions were;
Training of ToTs among the structures.
Formal structure registration and Certificates.
Facilitate sustainable structure initiatives.
Invest in Income Generating Activities (IGA) or Risk Closing operations!
With global funding challenges, COHERE was concerned about institutional framework by RLOs on sustaining their initiatives with or without funding! We must think outside the box π¦ and become more creative and innovative than ever before.
Just Now!
Received a team from COHERE for their routine partner learning visits. They were able to visit and interact with champion caregivers who were found to be attending financial literacy training as part of process to support them with business boost up capital.
We strongly use these parameters to support our communities for a progressive and inclusive society!
