About Youth Education and Development Association Y (EDA)

Youth Education and Development Association (YEDA) started on 30 June by elite African Refugees namely RAMADHANI OLOMWENE as a founder and Director, and EBANDA MIALANO his Co-founder in Kakuma Refugee Camp in northern Kenya, after observing and living after observing many sufferings that refugees and autochthones undergo. The elites organized their first refugee community meeting at Kakuma 4 to have quickly solution to emerging problems occurred in the community of Kakuma 4 and all Kakuma refugee camp. During meeting the community accepted to start working volunteering then we started with two activities which are Hair dressing training and Sewing machine training cause we did not have any support, the activities were supported by contribution of members of YEDA. On 08 June 2017, Youth Education and Development Association (YEDA) have gotten the certificate of registration of Community Based Organization (CBO) from Labour and Social Protection

Additional location: Specifically based in Kakuma Refugee Camp, but we also operate in the neighboring host communities and we aim extending our operation to Kalobeyei settlement. In 2019 YEDA met with COHERE and started building the collaboration, in our collaboration during Corona crises COHERE supported YEDA three big boxes contained the soaps for distributing to the vulnerable within the communities. We have just gave out the soaps to 350 persons/refugees. After the period of the soaps, COHERE brought another help of Pads for giving them out to the females. While we distribute the Pads to the community we just reach a good number of 505 of refugees. At the same period they brought for YEDA the containers of hand washing. From 2023, COHERE and YEDA sign a partnership and support us 1,298,000KESH in the program of CHILD EDUCATION AND PLAY GROUND. The project is still going on and will take end next year (2024) on March. For ending, let’s thank COHERE for all it has done. We can say COHERE before YEDA is what we call a Catalyst because it is an institution that makes YEDA to grow and to be known in and outside the country (Kenya).
