Kakuma Eco-Bag is a refugee-led social enterprise advancing climate action and green livelihoods in Kakuma, Turkana County. We address plastic pollution and youth unemployment by producing affordable, eco-friendly packaging made by hand from recycled materials. To date, we have trained over 300 youth and produced more than 100,000 eco-packaging items for local businesses, replacing costly imported plastic packages. Our cooperative model enables youth to gain practical skills, earn income, and participate in a circular economy. Through local production and environmental responsibility, Kakuma Eco-Bag strengthens community resilience while protecting nature.
