Peace Building Cohesion & Integration

Kakuma refugee camp is home for refugees for about 16 nationalities whose majority are South Sudanese and Somalis. These refugees and asylum seekers expect to live in peace and harmony so as forget what they went through in their homelands, unfortunately the situation deteriorates day to day making many get disappointed and increasingly worsening health condition of many. The camp established in 1992 was made to be a place for settlement and so peace was expected to be dominant songs to allow social, economic and spiritual development of refugees and Hosts. Many refugees have lost lives, property looted causing grief and sorrow witnessed by many inside and outside the camp. Kakuma and Kalobeyei are becoming the battlefields with perpetual and endless troubles ,conflicts, looting, killings and assaults which might be result of misuses of drugs, poverty, lack of knowledge or skills on conflict management and conflict prevention. Lack of message of peace preached through love, fellowship and unity. Or maybe ignorance needs to be removed by instilling positive thoughts in their minds of youths, parents or leaders and so peace should be our priority for self and community development. The presence of peace has major positive impacts on social and economic development of our society. There is no development without peace. The church is well positioned to bring People together through the gospel of peace, conflict resolution mechanisms and peace building principles courses.
