Project Name: Skill Roots 

2025 Annual report
Objective:
The Skill Roots project aims to improve livelihoods and reduce unemployment by equipping community members with practical vocational skills that can lead to income generation and self-reliance. The project focuses on hands-on training in hairdressing and tailoring, combined with basic entrepreneurship and financial awareness.

Key Activities:

  • Vocational training in hairdressing and tailoring

  • Practical sessions using locally available tools and materials

  • Mentorship by experienced trainers and peer instructors

  • Linkages to work opportunities and small businesses

  • Monthly community outreach activities, including free haircut initiatives for vulnerable groups

The project emphasizes practical learning, peer support, and real-world application of skills to ensure participants can transition from training to income-generating activities.



Project highlights, targets reached, lessons learned, and best practices (approx. 200 words)

Skill Roots reached 168 participants, including 110 women, 50 men, and 8 persons with disabilities, demonstrating strong gender and social inclusion. Many graduates acquired employable skills, with some securing work in local salons, tailoring shops, or engaging in self-employment.

  • Youth graduates serving as instructors for new trainees

  • Establishment of a pathway linking trainees to local business owners

  • Community trust built through free haircut outreach initiatives
