THE RCA REFUGEE YOUTH SUPER CAMP 4TH EDITION 2024

?The RCA refugee youth Super Camp is an event that RCA organizes to bring out of school and school going refugee youths and children together during school holidays in Uganda. The event that see refugee youths enjoy different activities such as team building, community development and clean ups, chess competitions, friendly soccer competitions, food and much more brought 2300+ refugees together for 5 days. Youths are always excited about this event and are eager for the next one.

The event welcomes volunteers both local and international volunteers to support with their time and any thing they can support with. The event that take place free times each year saw 4th edition take place in May 2024 with 5 days of different activities . The event supported over 450+ refugee youths daily for a period of 5 days and over 25 local volunteers teamed up with our Staff to make a the event a success.

The event had three main objectives;

  1. To bring out of school, orphans and school going refugee and host community youths together to exchange, learn from each other have fun during the school holidays in Uganda.
  2. To provide a free of cost and welcoming space for youths to feel loved and engage in activities that keep them from harm such harmful activities can be smoking, gangs, robbing, peer pressure, drugs among others.
  3. To give youths the opportunity to enjoy food (RICE & BEANS) as a family and a team that loves each other which many have not got the opportunity to get or eat food because of the food challenges in the refugee settlement.

The event saw over 450+ refugee youths participating each day for a period of 5 days in different activities 


  • Each day the youths received constant support including food, guidance and coaching
  • The youths connected with one anther and had a lots to share with each other 
  • Each day our volunteers and coaches did a debrief to learn reflect on each day and the next day's planning review 
  • Participants from our programs practiced their leadership skills because they joined the coaches where they provided a huge boost on the leadership team. 
  • Girls got the chance to raise their voices as most of them don't get such opportunities  

The lessons learned are;

  • There is no actin of kindness that is small to anyone because what you as small is a big thing to someone else in need 
  • There was less budget or funding provided to support all our programs and including the super camp but with dedication, love and the willingness to support the youths at need the leadership under all the pressures found out a way too deal with some challenges 
  • Preparation and planning is a key 
  • People will not believe in you at first but as you work on the dreams then they will start to notice the impact you could bring to the world and the community.
  •  The Super Camp is an event that the youths appreciate and would love to see again.
