Nothing About Us Without Us

What if we told you that making decisions for us is what often holds us back?

When others make decisions on our behalf, they deny us the opportunity to identify and address the challenges that truly affect our people. Challenges we live with every day and understand better than anyone else.

There is a saying: "If you do not live in a house, you cannot know where it leaks when it rains." The same is true for refugee communities. If you do not work closely with refugee leaders, you cannot fully understand the realities we face or the solutions that are most urgently needed.

There is nothing for us without us.

Allow us to make our own decisions. Allow us to identify our priorities. Allow us to allocate resources where they are needed most. Work with us, not for us.

What we need is a trust-based partnership, one that recognizes refugee leaders not as beneficiaries, but as equal partners in creating lasting change.

Building safe spaces, ending sexual violence in our community.

Through our small resources we are training and empowering teenage girls who are mostly victims of sexual violence and harassment to learn about self defensive skills that will protect them against goons and attackers from the community.

A community throves when everyone takes responsibility

Last week, we spent a few hours at Mangu High School witnessing the National Youths & Cadets Chess Championship. 🏆♟️

It was incredible to see how chess, like sports, brings people together, sparks healthy competition, and positively impacts communities. Moments like these remind us that games can be more than just play they can be powerful tools for growth, connection, and inspiration.
