Transformative Skills Lab (TSL) is a refugee-led community-based organization founded in 2018 in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya. We empower refugee and host community children, youth, women, and caregivers through inclusive education, digital literacy, vocational and creative skills, social and emotional learning, entrepreneurship, and climate action. Our programs equip participants with practical skills, confidence, and opportunities to become self-reliant and active contributors to their communities. By combining innovation, environmental stewardship, and community leadership, we transform challenges into opportunities, helping build resilient livelihoods and sustainable futures. TSL believes every person has the potential to create positive and lasting change.
We are excited to share a wonderful moment from our recent community engagement event held at our learning center, proudly supported by FilmAid Kenya.
The program brought together our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) parenting group, dedicated community members, and block leaders who actively participated in the sessions. It was inspiring to see parents come together, engage openly, and show strong interest in learning and supporting their children’s growth.
The energy in the room was incredible—parents were excited, involved, and eager to continue building stronger families and a supportive community environment.
This engagement highlights the importance of collaboration between parents, leaders, and organizations in promoting social and emotional well-being within our community.
A big thank you to all participants and partners who made this program meaningful and impactful!
Transformative Skills Lab (TSL) is excited to collaborate with FilmAid Kenya on the production of impactful documentaries within our community.
This initiative empowers young people and community members to tell their own stories, highlight real-life experiences, and raise awareness on key issues affecting refugees. Through storytelling, we aim to amplify voices that are often unheard and inspire positive change.
With the support of FilmAid Kenya, participants are gaining valuable skills in media production, creativity, and communication—opening pathways for self-expression and future opportunities.
At TSL, we believe that every story matters, and through these documentaries, our community can share its strength, resilience, and hope with the world.
We were honored to receive a visit from Inkomoko at Transformative Skills Lab (TSL).
