About Voice of Refugees

The Voice of Refugees (VOR) was officially established on December 23, 2016, in Kampala, Uganda, and is registered with the Ugandan Registration Service Bureau (URSB) under Reg. No. 80020000023374. Founded by Eritrean refugees, VOR recognized a critical lack of organized efforts to advocate for, represent, and defend Eritrean refugees and asylum seekers. VISION "Voice of Refugees (VOR) stands as a voice for the voiceless, striving for legally empowered, self-reliant, and resilient communities while seeking durable solutions to the challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees." MISSION Voice of Refugees (VOR) enhances organizational strategies to strengthen a unified response, disseminate information, raise awareness, provide legal aid, and seek durable solutions. ACTIVITIES 1. SCHEMES OF VOICE TO BE HEARD The primary activity of the VOR is to ensure that the voices of refugees are heard and to promote fair representation and inclusiveness in all matters concerning them. The following are the schemes 2. Lobby and Advocacy VOR actively lobbies and advocate for the rights and responsibilities of refugees and asylum seekers. 3. Information Raising knowledge and awareness among Eritrean refugees and asylum seekers. 4, DURABLE SOLUTIONS VOR strives to promote durable solutions for refugees by closely collaborating with partner organizations to address issues related to livelihood, unemployment and resettlement. 5. STRENGTHENING OF PARTNERSHIPS VOR has established an exemplary partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister, the Department of Refugees, UNHCR and its implementing and operating partners. 6. Harmonization of Domestic and International Refugee Instruments VOR has been conducting comprehensive research to inform its lobbying and advocacy efforts for harmonizing domestic and international instruments related to refugee laws. 7. Maximizing Harmonious and Peaceful Coexistence Promoting harmonious coexistence between refugees and host communities is one of VOR's core activities.
