Agir pour l’Environnement implemented a community empowerment project through basket-making activities with women and youth from low-income households in Burundi. The project focused on strengthening livelihoods by providing practical training in traditional basket weaving using locally available and environmentally friendly materials. Participants developed new skills, worked together in groups, and improved their ability to produce quality handmade baskets for local markets. Beyond income generation, the initiative strengthened community cooperation, built confidence among participants, and created a safe space for sharing experiences and mutual support. The project helped families increase income while promoting local craftsmanship and community resilience.
