Education for Youth Empowerment (EYE) Uganda implemented the Roots to Wings: Learn, Play & Empower Initiative to improve children’s education in vulnerable refugee communities. The project strengthened capacity of teachers, play facilitators, Centre and School Management Committees, and Parent-Teacher Associations. It supported production and provision of scholastic materials and stationery to enhance learning and play. Back-to-school campaigns were conducted to increase enrollment and retention. The initiative promoted child-centered learning, community ownership, and inclusive education. As a result, teaching quality improved, children’s participation increased, and communities became more engaged in sustaining safe, supportive learning environments.
