We are implementing the YES-UP (Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Futures – Uplifting Potential) project in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Uganda, funded by Global Youth Mobilization. focusing on youth economic empowerment through vocational skills and entrepreneurship. The project trained 27 refugee youth (60% female, including five youth with a disability) in soap and detergent production, safety standards, and basic business skills. Using a learn–work–earn approach, participants produced and sold soap during training, earned stipends, and saved collectively as start-up capital. The project strengthened livelihoods, promoted self-reliance, improved hygiene access, and laid the foundation for a youth-led micro enterprise.
