In January 2023, we were funded by the UNHCR innovation fund to teach 100 refugee women how to implement the aquaponics project, which is an innovative approach to growing fish and vegetables in an above-ground cycle. The project was implemented in two stages: digital literacy and the introduction of aquaponics. The women learnt how to use computers to develop their skills in word, excel, poworpoint and the internet to market the products from aquaponics. They also learnt about aquaponics, a hybrid production method that combines aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics (vegetable farming) to grow fresh food responsibly!
