CHILDREN

The project aims to provide educational support for refugee children, creating a conducive learning environment. Additionally, it focuses on establishing safe play areas and recreational activities to enhance the children's physical and emotional well-being. Empowering parents and caregivers is also a key goal, equipping them with the necessary skills to nurture the children's holistic development. Overall, the "Let's Learn, Let's Play Safely with Refugee Children" project strives to make a positive impact on the children's lives, aiming for a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn, thrive, and experience the joys of childhood. Furthermore, it seeks to foster social integration and resilience among the children, promoting interaction, understanding, and friendship, while enhancing their emotional well-being.

The "Let's Learn, Let's Play Safely with Refugee Children" project by the FHE team commenced its mobilization phase on July 1, 2023, and continued efforts until January 31, 2024, impacting 566 beneficiaries. The staff recruitment process was diligently executed in July 2023, resulting in the engagement of a facilitator, a baby care professional, and a security guard, thereby fostering employment opportunities and aligning with their commitment to professional development and job creation. The construction of a magnificent room at Cohere within the FHE premises took four weeks, signifying the initiation of transformative ventures. Training for facilitators and students commenced in mid-July, with 220 students and 110 women trained over the last six months of 2023, organized by age groups 3-6 and 7-13.

The "Let's Learn, Let's Play Safely with Refugee Children" (2LSRC) project conducted by the FHE team was executed between July 2023 and January 31, 2024, for approximately six months. The project had a multifaceted methodology, which included hands-on learning, game and toy analysis, experimentation, innovative technological instruction through the "AKILi na ELIMU" YouTube channel, decision-making facilitated by project management, surveys and feedback analysis, collaborative workshops, and iterative prototyping. These assorted methodologies aimed to create a dynamic and comprehensive approach to the project, enabling practical learning experiences and strategic decision-making. Apart from this, the project emphasized fostering resilience and emotional well-being among refugee children, aiming to help them overcome trauma and build resilience for their future. The scope of the project was constrained within the mentioned timeframe, providing a strategic window to implement and evaluate the initiative's impact while focusing on creating a positive and lasting difference within the refugee community.
