Association of Working Children and Youth - DRC
The association of children and young workers of the DRC (AEJ-DRC) is a community organization engaged in the promotion and defense of the rights of children, young people, people living with disabilities, internal displaced and refugees. Active mainly in the South Kivu provinces (Uvira, Fizi, Idjwi) and Tanganyika (Kalemie), AEJ-DC implements multisectoral programs adapted to local realities and the needs of the most vulnerable populations.
In the field of education, AEJ-DRC supports the access of marginalized children to formal and non-formal education, including inclusive and digital education, by facilitating the schooling of children living with disabilities and by forming teachers with suitable educational approaches. It also develops * digital learning centers * for young people, in order to reduce the digital fracture.
In health, the organization is working on community awareness, access to primary care, psychosocial support, and sexual and reproductive health (SSR) of adolescents and young people. It implements complete education programs for sexuality, and fights against gender -based sexual violence.
AEJT-DRC also works for the empowerment of women and girls, through community savings groups, vocational training (sewing, soap, crafts) and entrepreneurial support. In parallel, it promotes sustainable organic farming to ensure food security and economic integration of vulnerable households.
Finally, AEJ-DRC is involved in social cohesion by inter-community dialogues, school peace clubs and cultural actions, to prevent conflicts and strengthen inclusion.
With a participatory approach, the AEJ-DRC acts with and for young people, in order to build a fairer, inclusive and united society
