About Trans Refugee Initiative

Trans Refugee Initiative (TRI) Uganda is a specialized humanitarian organization operating at the nexus of humanitarian response, public health, and human rights. Founded in 2022 to address the specific vulnerabilities of gender marginalized and diverse refugees and displaced population, TRI fills a critical gap in the Ugandan humanitarian landscape through evidence based interventions, strategic advocacy and community-led empowerment. We operate primarily in rural areas and refugee settlements where traditional aid mechanisms often fail to account for the unique protection risks faced by TGD individuals.
