We empower vulnerable children through mentorship and education in Kakuma Refugee Camp. Join us in shaping a bold, God-fearing future. Lead the Child was founded by Pastor Ekabe Lukano of Church of the Nazarene. It began when the pastor met two orphans who begged him for food. The orphans were out of school and did not have enough to eat at home. Relatives who corroborated the story. The Pastor continued visiting the orphans regularly to check on them and to pray with them. With time, he realized that many children were facing similar challenges. The ones who were out of school were loitering in the refugee camp collecting plastics bottles, jerrecans and scrap metal to sell for little money for food. Some were using their daily earnings on movies and cinemas, buying miraah/kat, gull, alcohol and bhang. Pastor Ekabe realized that he had to do something to rescue the children. He called church board meeting and presented the case before them. He requested to be allowed to hold sessions with these children every evening in the church premises. The board saw the merit of the case and gave a go-ahead in a meeting held on 5th May 2017.
