To address the issue of financial inclusion and reach poor rural and refugee women, girl, men and marginalized people, OAF began promoting a saving led microfinance model called “Business Saving Groups” The BSG model is based on belief that for the extremely rural women and poor refugees. The best approach is to begin strengthening their financial assets and skills through savings rather than debt. Through participation in a BSG members can diversify their activities, plant additional crops, buy additional assets, and create or improve their micro enterprises. At the same time, they are able to save and borrow in ways that allow them to smooth cyclical household consumption patterns.
