Conducted a roundtable discussion on peace and climate at Basecamp, bringing together various leaders from the settlement, structures, stakeholders including representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister, Yumbe District, Yumbe Police and partners such as IRC, REWO, ADRA, AFRI Youth Network, Windle International, RICE, and UNHCR, SAWA INNOVATIONS HUB, URDMC etc. The discussions featured a panel presentation by the Protection Lead from IRC Zone 1, who highlighted key factors contributing to conflicts within the settlement and their subsequent impact on the climate. These factors included the scarcity of resources, which has caused tensions between refugees and host communities, and bush burning during the dry season, which has had tragic consequences. A case study was shared from Zone 3, where a woman tragically lost her life due to a bushfire. Following the panel presentation, there were open discussions on strategies to enhance peace and address climate challenges. Suggestions included using ICT tools for sensitization on peaceful coexistence in multiple languages, fostering strong collaboration and coordination among partners, and integrating climate sessions into peacebuilding activities. The UNHCR Environment and Energy focal person emphasized the importance of addressing environmental issues, referencing the 2016 environmental impact assessment, which revealed that the average daily firewood consumption per household was 7 kg

On 25th May 2024 we took our children out to Escape Village Hotel at Yumbe for a Dinner. This was to say "Thank you to the Children" The foundation of this Organization was laid with these children. We started the journey in 2017 with just gathering these children. We had no means of transport, we later got motorcycle and have been working over the years riding motorcycles to serve the community. Whenever we went out with the children, we hire cars that they have to squeeze themselves in. Last month we received two cars thanks to DanChurchAid Uganda and Cohere which is a progress for us. Through the Foundation with these children, we have been able to open coordination office in Yambio and in Juba that is serving 100th of vulnerable children including the Refugees fleeing war from Sudan. It is our daily prayers to see that as the Organization grow it is able to support these children more. However, it is not easy to raise funds that support the social development and wellbeing of children. Most funding we have received goes to Peace Building in Community, Environment and Energy, Women Empowerment, Business creation and management, Gender Equality Programs that are indirectly supporting the children and the community. Last year, one Good Samaritan offered to pay the Tuition of one of the Children and we are glad the girl is now studying which is relieving for us but many of these children needs same support too. However it is difficult for us to get donors who commit funding towards social activities of the children or responding to the daily emerging basic needs of the children to ensure their holistic growth. Hence, much as we would like to do more for these children in terms of responding to their daily needs, education and sponsorship, our hands are tied as the funding are restricted. We plan to open an income generating business for the Organization through which we can respond to other unfunded needs of our children and Organization. If you would like to support the children in anyway or other reach out to us

We continue to construct Lorena Energy Cooking Stoves for Refugees in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement as part of our partnership with Danish Church Aid (DCA) a project funded by UNHCR. This is to reduce the amountt of firewood used by Refugee and Host Community House Hold on daily basis. Firewood is the only source of cooking for Refugees and this has degraded the environment as you can barely see a ttree standing in the Refugee Settlement and now Refugees walk kilometers away too fetch firewood. This is causssing conflicts between Refugee and Host Community and hence this project is important as we are equally planting trees and mainttening the existing woodlots
