Empowering Children Through Play, Learning, and Shared Experiences"

At UIR CBO, we believe that every child deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and build meaningful relationships in a safe and supportive environment.

Through our games and sports activities, children come together not for competition, but to interact, learn from one another, share experiences, and strengthen teamwork, friendship, and mutual respect. These activities create a positive space where every child feels valued, included, and encouraged to participate.

To celebrate participation and inspire enthusiasm, children are occasionally recognized with small tokens of appreciation, such as sweets, fostering joy and motivation while emphasizing that every child's contribution matters.

Beyond physical activity, these engagements help children develop confidence, social skills, discipline, and a sense of belonging

Together, we are creating opportunities for children to thrive, connect, and build a brighter future.

OUR STORY – DIGNITY IN ACTION

Every day at Unity Intervention for Refugees, we do not simply run workshops. We listen. We sit with mothers who haven't slept through the night in months—their children waking from
nightmares of gunfire or the long walk to Kakuma. We sit with fathers who carry trauma they'll never speak aloud, who have watched their livestock die, their villages burn, their families scatter.
We sit with grandmothers raising grandchildren they did not expect to raise, and with Young mothers who became parents before they were ready.

Every week, parents living in a refugee camp – every reason to give up – show up to learn how to parent better. Together, we talk about positive parenting. Not as a luxury. As a lifeline. How do you stay calm when our child is crying and you have nothing left? How do you discipline with love when fear is everywhere?

In today's Kakuma refugee camp, children at UIR CBO are learning, discovering and thriving in their learning space and in their play activities. We are making safe, inclusive, inspiring spaces with you for young minds to learn, play, and dream. Children have opportunities to discover their talents, gain confidence, cultivate positive relationships, and grow in key life skills through SEL & PSS sessions, engaging educational activities, and creative play.

We believe at UIR CBO that every child deserves a place where they can be stimulated, encouraged, and developed in all areas of learning through a love for learning and a sense of wonder. We work with children in Kakuma Refugee Camp to build emotional resilience, social skills, self-awareness, and mental health so that they can face adversity and reach their full potential through SEL & PSS sessions.

Increased resilience, leadership, and decision-making skills.

At UIR CBO, we believe that learning and well-being grow best in environments where children feel joy, connection, and belonging.

Through our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) activities, we recently engaged children in simple but powerful games designed to build both skills and relationships. These included:

Roll and the Bottle

Spin and Win

Shoot on Target

Beyond the fun, these activities are intentionally designed to support children’s holistic development. They help in:

•Strengthening relationships among children

•Promoting happiness and positive emotions

•Reducing stress and emotional tension

•Refreshing the mind for better focus in learning

In many learning spaces, play is often seen as a break from learning. At UIR CBO, we see play as learning itself, an essential pathway for developing emotional intelligence, confidence, and social skills that children carry into everyday life.

When children feel safe, happy, and connected, they learn better and grow stronger.
