About Solidarity of Refugee Women for the Social Welfare (SOFERES)

Solidarity of Refugee Women for the Social Welfare (SOFERES) is a refugee women -led and not - for-profit organization founded in 2013 by a group of refugee women and girls survivors of various civil wars in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and Somalia. SOFERES is committed to empowering and equipping vulnerable women and girls with the skills and resources to earn an income, improve health and well-being, build self-confidence, and have stronger voice and power to make decisions that benefit themselves, their families and their communities. We envision a world in which women and girls have the opportunity and ability to control their lives and futures The organization was legally registered as a NGO with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, under the Trustees Incorporation Act of 1962 (CAP. 5:03), Form C, No. TR/INC8243 in 2018.

SOFERES is committed to empowering the most vulnerable and highly marginalized women and girls to become agent of change for themselves through the implementation of different programmes/projects.
SOFERES envision a society in which all women and girls have equal rights, choices, conditions and power and access to the same opportunities as men for the attainment of gender equality and equity.
